Caya Hueso – HYP3RIDS Seeds

This project began in late 2019, after HYP3RIDS received the first batch of CBH S2 seeds from their fellow grower, Kushyman. The original S1 seeds were produced by @thelonetree_ from the original Cuban Black Haze clone, also known as The Black or La Negra. This is the genuine, original clone that was predominantly grown in Florida by Cuban and Dominican groups.

CBH, also known as The Black, La Negra or Superman, is the clone that made its way from Florida along the east coast to New York. There, it became known by various names, including The Piff, Frankie’s, NYC Haze, Uptown, Church, Audubon Gold and Puday. The so-called ‘Brown Cut’ is the variant that most people associate with ‘The Piff’. It also has the shortest flowering time of all New York Haze strains. For this project, HYP3RIDS crossed the first batch of CBH S2 with a tried-and-tested Sawā male. The resulting hybrid was named Cayo Hueso, the Spanish name for Key West, the archipelago in the Straits of Florida. The CBH S2 plant used for Cayo Hueso also produced a striking blood-red sap, which ultimately gave rise to the name Blood Haze.

For this release, a selected Cayo Hueso F1 male and several F1 females were used, which exhibit a stronger tendency towards the classic Haze characteristics of the CBH line. Nevertheless, the line offers a wide variety of phenotypes. Alongside El-Squato or almost pure Haze phenotypes, there are also plants that display significantly more characteristics of the Sawā line.
